Hair Gel Review

This week I decided to take on a Hollywood style by sporting the economy hair gel of the west coast… LA Looks. I’m accustomed to spending upwards of $300 for my hair product, so imagine my surprise when I got to the counter and was asked to pay a mere $2.95 for a large tub of LA Looks! I was actually a bit concerned by this modest pricing. Did the product lack the premium natural ingredients that I’ve become accustomed to? Would my follicle’s be harmed by this consumer grade, brightly colored product?

I brushed my fears aside and decided to keep an open mind. When I got home from the drugstore I immediately washed the name brand salon product out of my scalp, and got ready to dive hair first into my newly purchased tub of LA Looks.

The first thing that I noticed was the Vasoline-like texture of the product. With its fun color and bold scent, I found myself in a playful state of mind. I rubbed a glob all over my face for a quick jolly, then pulled myself together and got ready for business.

Upon application I felt a slight cooling sensation upon my scalp. I examined my pre-combed locks in the mirror, and was quite happy with the shine and bounce that I saw staring back at me. Styling turned out to be a breeze. The product worked with my comb in perfect harmony, and all was right with the world.  I thought that I’d hit a home run with this bargain brand jelly.

It was only when I glanced down at my $1,100 Gonzalez-Lopez gold tipped comb that I saw the first sign of trouble. There was a disturbing white residue that lingered in the belly of the combs bristles. I frantically washed out my prized scalp wand, and was relieved to see that no permanent harm had come to the styling tool. I assumed that the worst was over…

I decided to put the fate of my evening in the product’s hands. With a night of dancing ahead of me, it was a leap of faith to hit the town sporting a foreign product, but I was feeling bold and decided to go for it.

I met my stepfather at the club for a night of dancing… just like any Thursday night. Imagine my excitement when he actually complimented the shine and bounce of my hair!

I was drinking, laughing and dancing the night away. LA Looks appeared to be a success. At the time, I was contemplating giving the product a four-star review… then it happened.
